The atmosphere was lit at Honsbridge. Lit, noisy and tons of fun. That’s because the school had a charity fundraiser on that day. Honsbridge students & teachers, or Honnets, for short, were involved in lots of activities, games and food, mainly a creative flag competition and a soda stall serving lemonade & Infusion (you should’ve tried Infusion, it had a great mix of lemonade & grape!). The action picks up as the Honnets moved the fundraiser to the front door of the school. Loud music, cakes, cookies and tanks of lemonade & Infusion were involved. Proceeds from the charity will be donated to National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia. On the other side of Dataran Sunway, at Sunway Giza, our other fellow Honnets, including acting Principal Alistair and marketing guy Alston, are busy raising awareness of Honsbridge’s educational benefits to passing Giza shoppers. Both events coincide with the upcoming Merdeka celebrations, as they create unity among Honnets o...

MOONCAKES OVER HONSBRIDGE

Image
Lantern making competition happened this week as the Honnets compete in making lanterns in time for the Mid-Autumn Festival, aka the Mooncake Festival. Lanterns and mooncakes are part of the Mid-Autumn Festival since centuries ago, that began in ancient China. The term ‘Mid-Autumn’ first appeared in the book the Rites of Zhou but as a time and season. It became a popular festival during the Tang Dynasty as people use the occasion to celebrate the bountiful harvest and to worship the moon. Legend has it that Chang’E, the Goddess of the Moon was once the wife of the great archer, Hou Yi, who shot down nine suns with his arrows to save China and spared one sun to gave light. Chang’E became Goddess after she swallowed an elixir of immortality, flew to and lived on the moon. Hou Yi missed his wife so much that offered her favourite fruits and cakes as offerings to the moon. Soon, people who were sympathetic with Hou Yi, joined him to give offerings to Chang’...

Team lunch @ ampang - Veg Fish Farm Thai Restaurant

Image
On the first Friday in August 2016, the entire team of Honsbridge including the teachers and principals went for lunch at the Veg Fish Farm Thai Restaurant hidden deep within Hulu Langat, Ampang.  Getting there is tricky as the staff navigate their cars through traffic jams, unfamiliar locations and bumpy, hilly roads to the restaurant. But once we get there, we were greeted by a large man-made lake surrounded by farms deep within the valley. The main restaurant is right next to the lake. As walked inside the restaurant to be seated, we passed by stalls of fresh vegetables, seafood and rows of aquariums. Right across from the seat, there’s a floating stage where entertainers would row the boat across the lake to perform there. So far no one’s performing, so we get to enjoy our lunch in peace. And what peaceful place! We heard that the place did crowded at certain time, mostly on weekend evenings. For now though, we were swayed by the serenity of the lake and farm as we wait f...

Dedicating to the Year 11 G8 Class of Honsbridge

Dear Students, Here is wishing all the challengers out there the very best for your upcoming exams. Burning the midnight oil is not necessary the way forward, but chances are you will be mugging at whatever odd times that best suit you. I remember when i used to prepare for exams wherever i was, night time was always the best time for me to study as it was cool and quite. With no distraction whatsover, i had soft music on and had a few aroma candles burnt, i would work out all the sums and essays as time ticked by. The period of exam preparation was productive as i checked off the topics that i had worked on day by day. Along with classmates and teachers who were always around for company, i didn't feel alone in the battle. The visualisation of success and fruits of labour always motivate me to work hard everytime. I hope you will be motivated to achieve your dream goals in the exams. There are many ways to help you succeed in exams and life. You may visualise the sweet su...
