Team lunch @ ampang - Veg Fish Farm Thai Restaurant

On the first Friday in August 2016, the entire team of Honsbridge including the teachers and principals went for lunch at the Veg Fish Farm Thai Restaurant hidden deep within Hulu Langat, Ampang.  Getting there is tricky as the staff navigate their cars through traffic jams, unfamiliar locations and bumpy, hilly roads to the restaurant. But once we get there, we were greeted by a large man-made lake surrounded by farms deep within the valley. The main restaurant is right next to the lake. As walked inside the restaurant to be seated, we passed by stalls of fresh vegetables, seafood and rows of aquariums. Right across from the seat, there’s a floating stage where entertainers would row the boat across the lake to perform there. So far no one’s performing, so we get to enjoy our lunch in peace.

And what peaceful place! We heard that the place did crowded at certain time, mostly on weekend evenings. For now though, we were swayed by the serenity of the lake and farm as we wait for our food to arrive.
A little history. The restaurant was founded few years ago by a father and son duo, Eugene & William Ng.  Formerly in the construction business, the part of eight acres of land of what will become the Veg Fish Farm was used for earth works and heavy equipment, as well as to park their rented cars there. With a lot of excess land left, they used the land to grow a vegetable farm and make business by selling them to Selayang market.
Meanwhile, the Ngs hired Thai staff for help. Some of the Thai staff cooked for themselves. The Ngs tasted their cooking and found them delicious. With the Thais’ cooking and owning a vegetable farm, along with importing fish and other aquatic creatures like crabs & prawn from other countries and raise them for seafood, the Ngs decided to open a restaurant.
But enough history. The teachers ordered a variety of food along rice such as the salted egg squid, grilled squid etc.

After the large scrumptious meal and few minutes of rest, Mr. Dom, took his time to take pictures of the Honsbrigade (the teacher & staff) and the farm & lake next to the restaurant.

After a long, bumpy journey, we were finally back at Honsbridge school. It was the most awesome meal and some of the teachers hoped to return back to Veg Fish Farm Thai Restaurant again by Uber. Maybe for another round, but this time with family.
