On the 25 Aug( Thurs), Honsbridge delighted every student with the announcement of the Hari Raya Celebration on the 26 Aug (Fri). Honsbridge believes in giving students the strict discipline to excel academically and to have fun altogether during festive season. Each student also received a special green packet that Honsbridge prepared especially for the Hari Raya occasion. The Hari Raya Celebration that was held the next day would see students perform live of their favourite song and instrumental piece. 24 Aug (Wed), the PE routine started with Mr Arm at 8am weekly. The boys and girls who were fasting found the PE extremely fun and exhausting at the same time. Not a good combination indeed. On the 20 Aug (Sat), we held the termly Parents, Students & Teachers' Meeting to review the Cambridge O Level academic exam results. The review gave the chance for the parents to review the exam papers with the students in the presence of the teachers. This was important to reinforce stude...

Fun with Physics Experiments!

Image
On 7 Oct 2010, Micheleine and Joshua were tasked to verify two key concepts in Physics. 1. The incident angle is equal to the reflected angle. 2. The image is as far behind the mirror as the object is in front of the mirror. The apparatus involved protractor, plain paper, card board, pins, pencil, ruler and mirror. Both Micheleine and Joshua took turns to carry out the steps in the experimental procedure, it was the observation of the image in the mirror that was found to be quite tricky to align with the pins. Overall, the two experiments went well and the fun was over in less than half an hour. The two key concepts have been verified to be true indeed. In the O Level physical science exams, questions such as describing an experiment to verify the law of reflection and image distance is equal to object distance are very common. Students are advised to write out the procedure along with a diagram and table of values to support the answers. If you have any questions and feedback, pleas...

Parents' Testmonials

Dear readers and parents, As today is National Day, Happy Merdeka! This post is dedicated to share with everyone the heartfelt messages that we have received from our parents. Thank you to you parents for taking the time to pen down the testimonials for Honsbridge. We are ever grateful of the wonderful partnership that we have built with our parents. Without their support in bringing their children on time for their classes and their time during parents' and teachers' review and even at school events, our students will not have come as far as they did. I am also most grateful to our team of teachers who have worked hard and enjoyed even more teaching our inaugural graduates. Well done us!!! As seen here with Ms. Jenny, Mr. Dom along with me. IGCSE/O level Chemistry

How to do well in IGCSE/O level Chemistry? Following on from "Why study Chemistry?", I will attempt to share with all young chemists- want-to-be some key must- know concepts . Know your periodic table, there is a wealth of information that you can get simply by referring to the periodic table. The elements in their respective Group have the same number of outermost electrons as their Group number. e.g. Group V elements will have 5 valence electrons. Whereas the elements in their respective Period have the same number of electronic shells as their Period number. e.g. Al is in Group III and in Period 3, therefore it has three electronic shells and three valence electrons. The Group number of the element also suggests how many more or less electrons that the element needs to gain or loose to become as stable as the Group VIII elements. e.g. Since Br is in Group VII, it has 7 valence electrons, to become stable like Group VIII elements, it needs to gain 1 more electron...
