Fun with Physics Experiments!

On 7 Oct 2010, Micheleine and Joshua were tasked to verify two key concepts in Physics.
1. The incident angle is equal to the reflected angle.
2. The image is as far behind the mirror as the object is in front of the mirror.

The apparatus involved protractor, plain paper, card board, pins, pencil, ruler and mirror. Both Micheleine and Joshua took turns to carry out the steps in the experimental procedure, it was the observation of the image in the mirror that was found to be quite tricky to align with the pins. Overall, the two experiments went well and the fun was over in less than half an hour. The two key concepts have been verified to be true indeed.

In the O Level physical science exams, questions such as describing an experiment to verify the law of reflection and image distance is equal to object distance are very common. Students are advised to write out the procedure along with a diagram and table of values to support the answers.
