Honsbridge Highlights in 2009

2009 was a great year with lots of fun, joy and growth to provide our students the best to excel in their O Level exams. We started small, but the Honsbridge family have grown quite a bit. This post is dedicated especially to our students, parents and friends whom have been part of Honsbridge Academy. 2009 marked the establishment of Honsbridge Academy at Dataran Sunway We had our first party aka. 'Transformer Party' on the July 4, 2009 this challenged our student's creativity to transform themselves. We had a dance session and pot-luck and the company was great. Then the ' Honsween Party ' on the Oct 29, 2009 Christmas Bash on the Dec 5, 2010 was amongst the last event but most heart warming for all of us. Watch this space for more uploads as we find time :) Love, Honsbridge

From Physics theory to hands on demonstration

Image
Hello one and all, Since the new academic term has started, I have given our O Level Physics students experiments to carry out using readily available equipments. It was great to see everyone bringing along their apparatus to do their demonstration in the class. The aim of the experiment was to demonstrate the principle of moment. The student will achieve this by first establishing an equilibrium about a pivot (see chair, spritzer water bottle and tin can). Followed by simple calculations of the anti-clockwise moment and the clockwise moment. In theory, for equilibrium to be established, the calculated anti-clockwise moments will be equal to the clockwise moments by the principle of moment. It was however, quite difficult to get an accurate reading as our students have found out here! All in all, we have had real fun putting theory to practise, haven't we? I look forward to our next experiment, this time it will be Chemistry! Emma for Honsbridge

Hello One and all, It's a brand new year in just under 10 days. Yes, that is right! For the chinese, we bring in 2010 on the 14 Feb 2010. It is the year of the Tiger! Chinese new year lasts for 14 days, so we have plenty of time to exchange well wishes and foodies with families and friends. Chinese new year brings back mixed experiences to me, as i have celebrated chinese year year in England and the atmosphere there was just unlike at home. Back in Stevenage, England where i worked at GlaxoSmithKline, i used to organise huge Chinese New Year Dinner for my collegues in a local chinese restaurant! When meeting has to do with food, there was always a huge turnout. One of funniest moment has to be when we all Yam Seng together! The host was in fact the restuarant manager of Peking Chef in Harpenden. If the video does play, do turn down the volume as it really gets too loud. I apologise for that :) At Honsbridge, our students are busy preparing for the special event, " Twin Happi
