On the 5 th of July, Honsbridge organised lessons on how to deliver a great speech by a guest instructor, Mr Ranjinath Muniandy. Present are some Honnets along with Mr Sandeep and Mr Bakhtiar. The objective of this lesson is to help Honnets improve their presentation skills in preparation for the Debate Competition. Each Honnet volunteer to deliver a speech based on any subject of their choice and Mr. Ranjinath, Mr. Sandeep and Mr. Bakhtiar will provide comments on how to improve their presentation. The highlight of the lesson is Wan Hariz, who presents a moving speech on depression and how he overcomes it by helping those in need. Mr. Ranjinath, Mr. Sandeep and Mr. Bakhtiar gave commendations, as well as comments on how to improve on his speech. Last Friday on June 2 nd 2017, Honsbridge went on a study trip to the Sunway University at Bandar Sunway. Honnets from Year 10 and Year 11 are brought along with the teachers to the University. Their mission: To explore a new world beyond the school; to seek out what’s life like in a university; and to boldly peek into their future ahead. Around 60 students left in two separate buses at about 8am. When they arrived at Sunway U, they were greeted by the student council of the University. The Honnets then proceed to the auditorium to learn more about Sunway University, the courses it will offer and the educational pathway the university will provide for them. Sunway University provides programs for entry into higher education in Australia, Canada, US and UK. Honnets who’ve studied in Cambridge-based education and succeeded in IGCSE exams at Honsbridge have the advantage if they choose to further their studies at Sunway University. ...

Last Saturday night on 28 th May 2017, Honsbridge held the best 8th Speech Day ever at the Sunway University. Inspired by the Oscars, we rolled out the red carpet for Honnets, their parents and the staff of Honsbridge, celebrating our school’s success. The Honnets and teachers dressed in the finest of clothes, appearing not unlike the celebrities of Hollywood. They took selfies and pictures at the photo booth while signed their well-wishes and names on the art board. There was joy, laughter and balloons everywhere. Inside Jeffrey Cheah Hall, the 8 th Speech Day began with a welcome speech presented by Ms Emma Furze. In her speech, Ms Emma gave her congratulations to all graduates. Just because Honsbridge produce the best and brightest kids, doesn’t mean the school is lacking great talent! This 28 th April 2017, Honsbridge is putting a spotlight on the Honnets by hosting her own Talent Show. Honnets from all over Honsbridge showcase their talents in music, performance, comedy, indie, comedy and wushu. The judges who presided over these talents are Mr Dom, Mr Bakhtiar, Mrs Pat, Mr Leong and Ms Izyani. The Honnets have been practicing for weeks, most of their time teaming up with their fellow Honnets, to prepare for their auditions. Their collaboration together proved that teamwork makes talent work. In their auditions, the Honnets uses a variety of instruments such as keyboards, violins, ukuleles, and guitars to play a variety of modern hits by singers such as Selena Gomez and classics such as Fools Rush In. It’s Teacher’s Day, and Honsbridge wishes to remind you all of the sacrifices teachers have made to bring out the best in Honnets. Now, we could’ve scour the ‘Net looking for cliched words of wisdom by teachers about teaching. Or we could introduce you to one particular teacher named Taylor Mali who, a decade ago, wrote a slam poet about the experiences and sacrifices teachers have gone through to bring out the best in kids, called ‘What Teachers Make’: He says the problem with teachers is What’s a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in life was to become a teacher? 2 nd May 20 was the last day for G15 Honnets as they sat for the final exams. First, they sat for the internal mock exams. Then, they will face the real exams outside Honsbridge at the Cempaka International School. We wish them good fortune in the final exams to come. After the exams are over, Honsbridge celebrate their finals by throwing a farewell party. The staff have ordered pizzas and drinks for the party. You might think baking as a mere fluffy stuff housewives do in the kitchen. What you don’t know is that baking is a form of chemistry. The mixing of ingredients used for baking a cupcake are not much mixing chemicals to make a plastic cup. For example, did you know flour itself is made up of mostly starch granules and proteins? Any slight changes in a recipe would make a difference between a moist cake and a brick. The only thing that separates baking from chemistry is that you can actually eat the results. Last Friday on 24th March, the Honnets are learning how to bake cupcakes under the watchful eyes of Honsbridge’s teachers. The teachers are on hand to give pointers on how to bake the cupcakes and the chemistry involved behind them. Honnets involved are from Junior classes – SJ2 & 3, J9, J10A & B and J12.
